VITA
Reiner Gaar was born in Schwabach (near Nuremberg) and studied
Lutheran Church Music in Bayreuth and Wuerzburg. He continued his
studies of the organ
and improvisation for some years under Prof. Günther Kaunzinger
and
Prof. Daniel Roth. He was a private pupil of Helga Schauerte in Paris
and
took part in various organ courses (including Guy Bovet, Marie-Claire
Alain,
M. Radulescu and Hans Haselböck). Since 1985 Reiner Gaar has been
Director
of Music for the regional church administration district of Castell in
Lower
Franconia (Bavaria). From 1987 to 1995 he taught artistic and
liturgical
organ studies at the University of Church Music in Esslingen am Neckar.
He
has given concerts throughout Europe (including appearances at the
International
Organ Festivals in Estonia (1997) and Oliva (Poland) (2002) and
composed
works
for the organ and other instruments. His textbook on organ
improvisation is published by Carus
. Since March 1998, in addition to his duties in Castell, Reiner Gaar
teaches and lectures on the organ at the University of Church Music in
Bayreuth . In April 2003 he took up an additional teaching post at
the University of Music in
Wuerzburg.
